Microsoft Tech Days – a 24 hour Tech-A-Thon

Hi All,

I just wanted to bring your attention to the upcoming Microsoft Tech Days – a 24 hour event.  You can get most of the info from the official site – https://www.msfttechdays.com/public/home.aspx – however seeing as this is a unique event, I thought I’d highlight some of the awesome sessions which will be available.

First off – you don’t need to be physically located in one of the major event locations (Auckland, Hong Kong, Delhi, London, Sao Paulo, New York, Seattle), since the content will be online.  Secondly, check out the tracks

The complete session listing is located here – https://www.msfttechdays.com/public/sessionlist.aspx but here are a few I’m personally interested in:

DEV319 What every DBA should know about Visual Studio Team System Database Edition
Don’t we all want to learn how to leverage Database Edition?  Thankfully, Microsoft recently changed the licensing so we can all use it if we happen to have licensed Development Edition!

DEV315 Answering the Queries Your Users Really Want to Ask
Any Greg Low session is worth a look-in plus, query optimization is worth the price of admission 🙂

DEV320 Debugging managed code using WinDbg
…could be similar to Corneliu’s Tech Ed 2008 session which was so popular it was standing room only

WEB400 REST in Windows Communication Foundation, Part 2: Security, Scalability, and Controlling the URI
This is a level 400 session, which basically means that the content will dig down (like a deep dive) and provide those familiar with WCF with an excellent degree of technical details.  My kind of session.

WEB401 In-depth MVC
I’m not normally all that interested in presentation layer plumbing, but since the ASP.net MVP implementation has recently hit Release Candidate this session (a level 400) will be a good way to see what has changed and how MVC can be harnessed for your up-and-coming web solutions.

This will be an excellent chance to roll up your sleeves and get hands on with some of Microsoft’s newest technologies, and you can do it from your home or office.
