“The rumors are confirmed! Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively-multiplayer game set in the critically acclaimed world of Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) was officially announced this week at a press event held at the LucasArts campus in San Francisco.“
Ugh. Rather than build KOTOR:III which would have been wholly welcomed by anyone who enjoyed the first two massively successful games, it looks like Bioware and LucasArts are going to take a stab at breaking into the GuildWars/World of Warcraft/et al marketplace whilst trying to have people forget the flop which was Star Wars Galaxies.
Sorry, I’m just not a fan. It seems like in the past 10 years Lucas has done just about everything wrong one could do to the Star Wars franchise. This is just another nail in the coffin.
Whatever happened to the really groundbreaking Star Wars games like X-Wing, Tie Fighter and Rogue Squadron?
The latest Star Wars games (KOTOR, Star Wars Lego and BattleFront aside) like Star Wars: Unleashed and its ilk are ruining the series on the game platform, whilst the clone wars destroys what vestige of backbone the films ever had.
