Free e-Books!

Welcome to the first publication under the category "Free Stuff".

I’ve created this category as a way to publish information about, you guessed it, stuff that is free.  Occasionally I run into various websites or information about free content, so I’ll post it up here.

So, in that tradition my inaugural post will be about Project Gutenberg.

From the ‘About Us’ section of Gutenberg’s Wiki:
"Project Gutenberg is the first and largest single collection of free electronic books, or eBooks"
In particular, I’d like to point you in the direction of: Gutenberg on CD
Which describes the process by which you can obtain a large quantity of works in a format suitable for burning to CD or DVD.

This is such a worthy cause!  I’m a big supporter of providing an open forum for expanding items in the public domain, and I hate it when copyright laws get extended at the behest of large multinational corporations (i.e. Disney) and it often has me recalling the "Free Mickey" campaign from a few years ago.

If you decide to grab a few e-books, please add a comment about them on this blog.  I’d really like to get an idea whether, basically, anyone is taking advantage of this kind of effort.

Bon Appetit!
