How do you occupy your time when you’re ‘between projects’?

Right now, for various reasons, I’m “between projects”  after relocating to China for a business venture which ultimately didn’t work out.  The timing couldn’t have been worse, right on December with virtually no prospect of finding alterative employment – especially whilst being located deep in China.

It is now mid February, and with Chinese New Year almost over, we enter into some degree of normalcy.  It has now been a couple of months and aside from a spate of travelling, work is still not on the radar.  We’re both ready to move on from China to wherever interesting work may be.

In the interim, we have a lot of free time and not much money (having spent it on travelling).  So, what do you do when you are idle – for extended periods?  I was trying to take the opportunity to write a large project.  This serves two purposes: a good source of inspiration for blog content, and also keep the technical mind ticking over.

It is hard to remain focused though, with all the instability and change in the air.  How do you fare in these situations?  Enquiring minds would like to know..
