Obligatory Sport Post

Ignore as appropriate (IAA).
A big weekend of sport requires a big post, no?  This weekend I managed to cover the Rugby World Cup (Aus v Wales and Canada v Fiji) as well as a few NFL games (although, not many since the televised games were all pretty one sided).  Wish they’d broadcast the Cleveland Browns v Cincinnatti Bengals, it looked like a cracker.
But first, to Rugby.  Australia proved in one game that a) they haven’t peaked yet, and, b) they’re going to be dangerous when they do.
The game was almost wrapped by halftime, but the Wales showed great character by fighting back in the second half.  Some questionable officiating not withstanding.
Fiji proved too strong for Canada, and now have to prepare to face the Wallabies.  I’ve got to try and catch some more games, some of the lessor matches look great!
In the NFL, Green Bay dispatched New York mostly in the fourth quarter.  As per usual, I missed a great GB game due to the game not being broadcast in Australia, and I also missed the awesome Cleveland v Cincinnatti game which broke several league records including 11 passing touchdowns between the two teams.  It was like watching a game of Madden ’07.
New England proved that their nefarious allegations had no effect on the gameday by blowing away a team whom many considered to be one fo the top tier AFC teams, the San Diego Chargers.  Why, oh why did the Chargers part with Marty Schottenheimer?
Watch me gaze on the NFL Crystal Ball(tm). I predict a tough Colts v Patriots AFC Championship game this season…
Meanwhile, the Washington Redskins are giving the Philly Eagles a lesson in execution by finishing the game through the air and ground, which the Eagles have had trouble doing today.  That’s two TDs against the Eagles D in 2007.
Looking ahead to the weekend..  Wallabies to take on Fiji with close to a full strength team.
